Who We Are
Welcome to Mt. Zion! Allow me to share briefly the main teaching of our Christian family of faith -- eternal life through Jesus Christ.
With Christians everywhere, our congregation confesses that Jesus Christ is "the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through (him)." (John 14:6) When the jailer at Philippi asked the apostle Paul, "What must I do to be saved?" Paul responded, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved - you and your household." We are, therefore, saved by God's grace alone, through faith in Jesus Christ alone. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)
Our good works cannot earn eternal life for us because our obedience to God's commands never attains the perfection his law demands. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23) Eternal life is rather a gift of God's undeserved love, freely given to all who trust Jesus as their Savior. Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life." (John 5:24)
It is joy and gratitude for this great gift of salvation that prompts us to do good works. “For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." (Ephesians 2:10)
There are many other important teachings in the Bible. There are many practical words of instruction. We find direction for marriage, raising our children, and managing our finances in the Bible; but the teaching that is most important is God's plan for our eternal salvation.
Starting with this message of eternal good news, we seek to learn together all of God's Word and apply it to our lives for His glory and our good.
